Okay, dear readers, I’ve gotta admit something. I didn’t read the calendar right last night. What does that mean? Tuneful Tuesday is Tuneful Monday this week. Since so many of you have been cool enough to RT this already, there’s no point in rescheduling this post for tomorrow. So this will be a week of going with the flow. Woo hoo! Read on and just do me one favor. Pretend it’s Tuesday.
Welcome once more to another Tuneful Tuesday. Last week, we went kind of mellow. It’s not the norm for me, I’ll admit. I’ve been making up for it with alot of angry-sounding Brit Rock this week. This fit in perfectly with a new novella I’m working on. I love when that happens, don’t you? So, let’s have a listen to a couple of my favorite bands in this genre.
One More Last Song by The Kaiser Chiefs
The Kaiser Chiefs hail from Leeds, England and are made up of lead vocalist Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick Baines, and drummer Vijay Mistry. They’ve released five albums, Employment (2005), Yours Truly, Angry Mob (2007), Off with Their Heads (2008), The Future Is Medieval (2011) and Education, Education, Education & War (2013).
This week, I’ve been digging on One More Last Song from their 2013 album. Wilson’s powerful vocals drive this tune, along with White’s catchy guitar riff. This is the kind of song you want to wake up to in the morning and party to at night. Not familiar with the Kaiser Chiefs? Then you need to be. Listen to my favorite track of the week here:
Great Escape by The Rifles
English rock band, The Rifles, originated in Chingford, London and consists of Joel Stoker and Lucas Crowther on guitar & vocals, Rob Pyne on bass, Dean Mumford on keyboard, and Grant Marsh playing drums. The band’s released four albums to date: No Love Lost (2006), Great Escape (2009), Freedom Run (2011), and None the Wiser (2014).
Though they’ve had more recent releases, I’ve been listening to a track from their 2009 album, Great Escape. The title track for this album is not only upbeat, but it embodies all of the wonderful qualities The Rifles possess: great vocals, driving rhythms, and wonderful harmony. Let’s have a listen:
That’s it for this week. Happy listening!!
