Guest Author: Sharon Sant / @SharonSant

[SK]:Hi everyone! It’s Guest Author day! I love it when guest authors come to visit! We have a special visit today from author, Sharon Sant. Welcome Sharon!

[SS]:I’m thrilled and grateful to you, Stephanie for letting me have a little space on her gorgeous blog. I’d like to introduce you to my three friends: Jacob, Luca and Ellen. First up, a little about Sky Song…

[SK]:The first question that I have is about the Sky Song trilogy. Did you write the trilogy all at once? Or do you still have further installments to pen?

[SS]: I wanted to write the whole thing before I put the first one out so that if the story of Sky Song needed to be reshaped according to how the rest of the story was

progressing, I could do that. The trilogy is already written, so I know exactly where Jacob, Luca and Ellen end up. How they get there still surprises me at times! There are loads of new characters to be introduced as well, who all have their part to play in Jacob’s destiny, which is far from settled at the end of sky song. The whole trilogy stretches across three years and is a love story, of sorts, but it’s also a story about friendship and loyalty, about staying true to who you are, about doing the right thing even when it’s the hardest path.

[SK]: Very cool! Okay folks, here’s a bit about Sky Song.

Sky Song

An unknown past. An unwanted destiny. A fight for survival.

A strange-eyed boy with no memory of his true identity or real parents, Jacob could have no idea of the mortal danger he has been in every day of his fifteen years. Now that danger has found him and suddenly he doesn’t know who he can trust and what is real anymore. All he knows is that his new identity is almost as terrifying as the peril unleashing it has brought. Caught in the universal power struggle of an ancient race of beings and a destiny demanded of him that he does not want, he must fight to protect his own life and everyone he holds dear.

But when the time comes, will he be strong enough to make the sacrifices that saving them will demand?

[SK]: Cool! Can you tell us a little about the guys in Sky Song?

[SS]: Meet the guys…

Despite the fact that Jacob came from my head, I find him a difficult character to sum up. He’s an academic high flyer, though he doesn’t want to be. He’s attractive in his own quirky way, though he doesn’t really know how to deal with the attention that it
brings. Aware that he is one of life’s outsiders, all he really wants is to fit in. He has grown up not really knowing who he is. So when his destiny is sprung on him one fateful night, all these things suddenly start to make sense.

Luca, or Gianluca, as he is known to his adoring mum, is Jacob’s best friend. He’s an outrageous flirt with a razor-sharp wit. His enthusiasm for life is infectious, as is his humour. He’s the class joker who doesn’t think beyond his next gag. But he’s a loyal and true friend with the heart of a lion and a hidden depth of keen intelligence. A boy just waiting for the right moment to be glorious. Exactly the sort of boy you want on your side when you’re saving the universe.

[SK]: How about the girls?

[SS]: Once I had Jacob and Luca I knew I needed a girl to stir up trouble. So along came Ellen. With a tougher upbringing than either Jacob or Luca, Ellen is the anchor of the trio. She’s grounded, nurturing, loyal, perceptive, intuitive and unfailingly optimistic. When there is chaos (and where Jacob and Luca are concerned there usually is) Ellen is the one who cuts through it to the truth. But sometimes she lets her heart rule her head and it gets her into trouble.
