“Blowing My Own Trombone” Book Launch Blog Tour / @EmmaCalin

Hi, I’m Emma Calin and Stephanie has kindly allowed me to post on her blog to celebrate the launch of my new book – a collection of novelettes and short stories called Love in a Hopeless Place Collection.

This is part of my “Blowing my own Trombone Book Launch Blog Tour” and at every stop I have shared part of a concert from last weekend. Today is part three of “Rock-a-my-sax”. It was filmed at the local bandstand in Romsey Park in England (can you spot me and my instrument?).

(For parts 1 and 2 and the whole thing, plus alternative tunes such as The Muppets, Eidelweiss, go see the other posts in my tour below!)

The “Love in a Hopeless Place Collection”is a set of five of my titles amalgamated into one. A bargain way for you to get your hands on my gritty tales-with-a-twist. Initially available for e-books (Kindle, iPad, Android, iPhone, Mac, PC etc on Amazon), the paperback will follow and an audiobook is in production.

The five titles in the collection are all novelettes or short stories. They stand alone in their own right but are linked by a common theme:
the universal quest for survival, love, passion and respect against the gritty backdrop of working class life.

Today I would like to give you a few snippets from THE CHOSEN – a gritty short story included in the collection.

A character:

He sat eating a thin white bread sandwich, spread with thin red jam, with his thin white hands. He
rolled a cigarette as thin as a match and inhaled deeply so that the red end glowed. He handed me his baccy and papers and began to talk the smoke from his wheezing lungs.

A location:

He started the van, tapping at the fuel gauge. I could see we were nearly empty. We were sixty miles
south of home in London. The engine was rattling more and more. I kept my mouth shut.

An end of scene sentence:

‘Its what’s called having a business mind my friend. Its about grasping the moment. I feel like Lady Macbeth on the eve of Agincourt,he said.

Along with all my titles, including the new 5-in-one collection is reduced to 99c/76p/89€, for my Worldwide Summer Sale until the 3rdAugust – so fill your suitcases!

    1. Thanks Emma! I’m so glad that you could make it today! So glad you like the site. Thank you so much! That would be me. 🙂

    1. There is a base template to set up the layout of the site. Then I modify the code to make what want. Then I create custom backgrounds, find the images, the fonts, and pull everything together. I have a small graphic design company. Previously I wasn’t creating websites but I have had so much interest in this one I am thinking of designing them.
